They can’t see what they have become. They are the nazis of 2024.

it is a magnificent performance, and a very important message. It should be sent to everybody possible. I’ve sent it out to a bunch of people who I think would take the time to read it an absorb the meaning. I hope everybody does this. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for this link, too. I missed this when he was speaking right after the Insurrection of January 6th. Excellent speech.

Americans don’t get how vicious the authoritarians can get. Down deep, we squirm when we see atrocities.

As relevant today as it was in the 1940’s.

I wish more people saw this, saw The Great Dictator, understood how truly devastating WWII was and how we fight many of these battles still. A case in point: the Liar - your Orange Hitler (I love all the nicknames the writers of Substack have employed) is reviving an old political system that’s been refuted. But there are his idols: Xi, Putin, Orban - and the guy in Venezuela, all trying to bring it back.

Anyway, thanks for posting this. A whole new generation may learn about Chaplin’s genius. And maybe they’ll be inspired to read and learn more. Really - thank you!

Chaplin was blacklisted in America for being a “premature anti-Fascist” after the film. Hating Nazis was a duty in 1943, but a suspiciously soft-on-Communism habit in 1938. Are YOU a PAF?

Thank you, Oliver. I had never seen this movie nor that particular clip. What an amazing speech for our present dilemma. If only Hitler could have really changed like that.

Chaplin was targeted by J Edgar Hoover as a dangerous, subversive alien & who interpreted Chaplin’s film as a subversive, evil propaganda. He denied Chaplin reentry to the United States for years. Seeds of Trump, Vance, Patel, Hegseth, Gabbard, & other vile Republicans were planted long ago.

Yes! Chaplin’s first movie where he spoke, because he felt so strongly about this issue…. It’s from the 1940’s, and yet 80 years later, it’s still happening today.

EXCELLENT SPEECH! I listened to this every day during the election. I still listen to it every few days. PLEASE listen to this most truthful speech by Charlie Chapman. It's worth the few minutes of your time. Then pass it around! WE MUST FIGHT BACK!!!

The Dictator's Playbook:

And how to fight against it!

1. Threaten Violence to Gain Power

2. Consolidate Power

3. Establish a Police State

4. Jail the Opposition

5. Undermine the Free Press

So I asked AI how to fight this Playbook...

This is a worrying topic! To combat such a "dictator playbook," the following steps could be helpful:

1. *Empowerment through education*: Educate people about their rights and the importance of democracy.

2. *Strengthening civil society*: Support organizations that promote human rights and democracy.

3. *Promoting press freedom*: Supporting independent media and journalists to ensure diverse and critical reporting.

4. *Strengthening the opposition*: Supporting opposition groups and parties to provide a political alternative.

5. *International support*: Mobilizing the international community to exert pressure on authoritarian regimes and provide support for democracy movements.

6. *Peaceful resistance*: Promoting peaceful protests and movements to protest authoritarian measures.

It is important that these steps are implemented in a coordinated and strategic manner to effectively combat authoritarian tendencies.

I ASKED MY BRAIN TOO

In many Dictatorships, the number of people in the hard core of a Regime, desition maker, big Donators, media broader, etc is mostly under 1000 persons

Let's find out who they are and punish them

If the leadership of a regime is eliminated quickly, efficiently and effectively, individually or in Groups. Soon only Inactive followers will remain
